Bonnie Tsai Scholarship for 2019

Bonnie Tsai

Bonnie Tsai was everything we expect and respect in a Creative Pilgrims Teacher and Trainer. She inspired thousands of teachers across the world. The most rewarding way for us to keep her memory alive is to encourage other teachers to be brave and not afraid to express their creativity, to develop interests in innovative approaches to teaching, and to find ways to implement them.

So once again we are pleased to announce a Bonnie Tsai Scholarship, where the prize for the winning entry is a free 2 week Creative Methodology for the Classroom course or another course of your choice (in tune with the theme of the scholarship competition) at Pilgrims in 2019 including 2 weeks accommodation

For details of the courses go to

http://www.pilgrims.co.uk/page/?title=2019+Courses%2C+Dates+%26+Fees&pid=265

Please submit your entry by e-mail by December 15th, 2018 to hania.kryszewska@pilgrims.co.uk and write in the subject header of your email: ‘Bonnie Tsai Scholarship (BTS)’  so that the entry does not get ‘lost’ among other HLT contributions.

The results will be announced in the February 2019 issue of HLT and by e-mail (to the winner).

IATEFL LASIG Conference

IATEFL LASIG Conference with Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic: 'The Teacher's Role in Development of Learner Autonomy' (21-22 September 2018)

Key note speakers: Leni Dam, David Little, Libor Stepanek

This IATEFL / LASIG conference will explore the specific and ever-changing role that the language teacher plays within the context of autonomous learning. Our main themes include Personalized Learning, Counselling and Empowering Students as we think that redefining the teacher’s role is necessarily interlinked with an emphasis on students’ needs.
We wish to bring together teachers and teacher trainers at primary, secondary as well as tertiary levels to uncover a variety of approaches to the development of learner autonomy.

The conference will feature presentations and workshops on various aspects of learner autonomy. In addition, a session for individual sharing and networking is scheduled to give everyone a chance to participate informally.
