Talking Images: Idioms by Lucy Holmes and Sharlene Matharu

We are two English teachers who work at the Lake School of English in Oxford. Having written for a variety of publishers, we decided to write our own book to fill what we considered to be a gap in the market. Our book ‘Talking Images: Idioms” is designed for busy teachers and is a classroom resource for teaching idioms through images.

Each of the 12 units has been trialled extensively in a real classroom setting and includes:

  • comprehensive teacher’s notes including task answers and follow-up ideas,
  • original images for introducing and teaching idioms,
  • photocopiable worksheets containing tasks for both closed practice and communicative production.

You can view a sample unit at the bottom of that page.

You can find out more about the book on our website: http://talkingimagesidioms.com/
