Letter 2

"Good Morning: I am a mother tongue english teacher."

"We are both first-language English speakers"

"I am a Canadian citizen"

"I am an English teacher with dual nationality, Italian-American."

These are just a few sentences from emails I've received from people looking for work. They are all things that I do not look at when hiring a teacher. I am quite clear on our website and social media profiles that I am against native speakerism. It's not because I wouldn't hire native speakers but I wouldn't hire a teacher based on that alone.

Therefore, if your first sentence is "I'm a native speaker", I'm not going to hire you. You clearly haven't taken a few minutes just to look at who we are and what we believe in.

Your nationality has zero impact on your ability to teach a language.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
