Pilgrims News: Pilgrims News

In what is a continue busy spring and summer for Pilgrims Teacher Training we have been represented at the TESOL Spain Convention in Seville in March, at IATEFL UK in Brighton and at APPI Portugal in Aveiro in May.

Stefy Ballotto was a plenary speaker at TESOL Spain with Phil Dexter, Anna Pires, Anabel Reis Alves and Annie Altamirano also presenting.   Hania Kryszewska, Stefy Ballotto and Phil Dexter presented at IATEFL in Brighton in April and Csilla Jaray-Benn at APPI, Portugal with a plenary and the same team from TESOL Spain also presented at APPI.

Our close collaboration with both Tesol Spain and APPI continues.  We’re also very much planning for our summer programme in Segovia. There are still places available and we would be delighted to welcome any teachers to join us. If you are interested and you would like to join us please see the information in this link  https://www.pilgrims.co.uk/teacher-training-courses/pilgrims-in-segovia and you can contact us for information writing to us info@pilgrims.co.uk

There are three main activities that Pilgrims is engaged in and promoting over the coming months.

The first is the free panel discussion on ‘Using AI in the humanistic language classroom’ which is hosted by our sister magazine the Teacher Trainer Journal with three highly experienced professionals on the panel – Işıl Boy, Nik Peachey and Jamie Keddie. You can find more information and joining information on the Teacher Trainer Journal website https://pilgrimsttj.com

These second activity is the Pilgrims online conference to be help on October 11th and 12th hosted by both our Pilgrims journals Humanising Language Teaching and the Teacher Trainer Journal on the theme of ‘ Humanistic language teaching today: teaching the whole person’ with an excellent range of plenary and session speakers. More information can be found on speakers and joining information elsewhere in this issue of HLT. Please do considering joining us for this celebration of what humanistic approaches in teaching and learning.

The third activity is a most significant one. As mentioned in the February issue of HLT Pilgrims like all organisations exist in a changing world of ELT business. Ways of working that was successful before is not necessarily possible going forward. While in person training remains the essence of our Pilgrims DNA we need to look at different ways of working. One of these ways is that  we are looking at developing an online offer and more information will be available soon. We are also delighted to announce that the UK will be returning to Erasmus + in 2027 and this means we can return to offering courses and other support back in the UK. We look forward to all the positive developments and opportunities working with you this will create.

Lastly, we are in the process of transitioning Pilgrims Teacher Training into a not-for-profit organisation. In doing this we will be opening up Pilgrims to a wider membership involving everyone who engages with Pilgrims activities giving everyone an active role in how we develop Pilgrims ensuring what we do is relevant for you. More information on this will be available, too and on our website https://www.pilgrims.co.uk/teacher-training-courses
